A campus of pavilions and plazas across 19.5 hectares in the middle of the Dakar, Senegal serving as a cultural and commercial meeting point. Supported by the Getty Conservation Institute, the structural scope of this beacon of modern African architecture included on-site preliminary existing conditions survey of the entire complex, documentation of the severity and commonality of deterioration, and detailing of proposed repairs for typical conditions to facilitate the creation and implementation of a conservation plan in subsequent-phase work. Hermona led the Silman structural engineering team as Senior Engineer and assistant project manager, and conducted the structural field investigation.
