Pilot-program housing development creating both affordable housing and shelter space for the homeless. The 9-story, 135,000sqft structure houses 200 beds in the homeless shelter and 135 units of affordable housing. Key features of the structural scope included a dramatically sloped site and deep foundations, significant punched windows in the exterior masonry shear walls, and transition to steel framing at the lower levels supporting heavy masonry construction above. Hermona led the Silman structural engineering team as Project Engineer.
